Sorry I’ve not had a chance to post in over a week. Finishing up the user manual for MAXX, helping customers sell their used KNK’s to upgrade to MAXX, and testing new and different materials on MAXX has been keeping me busy from dawn until dusk, literally. Thus, my life has pretty much been all about the new MAXX machine. If you’ve not had a chance to see it, here’s a link: Scrapbook Die Cutter
This latest product in the Klic-N-Kut line of cutters offers almost twice as much cutting force as present in the current Klic-N-Kuts, including the Element. It also comes equipped with three pinch wheels and a laser alignment light for faster easier print and cuts. The new bladeholder seat will adjust to fit just about any pen, bladeholder, or embossing tool you wish to use. And the grit rollers are far more… well… grittier to hold the mat tight and prevent skewing. The first two models being released are the 15″ and the 24″, both due to ship in about 2 weeks.
If you have any questions about the new MAXX line of Klic-N-Kuts, please either post here or email me at sandy@iloveknk.com. Also, if you are interested in buying one of the used KNK’s from one of my customers, also contact me and I can provide information on those. I have all sizes available: 9″, 13″, 15″ and 24″.
I’ve not cut that particular material. I will have my assistant purchase some and do some testing. One question… do you plan to use a stabilizer of any kind, such as Heat n’ Bond or Wonder Under or whatever you have available in Australia?
Hi Sandy, Just purchased the KNK MAXX 24 from Skat Katz and I agree with you, Fred is an excellent ambassador for KNK in Australia. He goes out of his way to help. We have purchased this cutter to help us streamline our business, what we desperatly need to know is the V & F settings, US BR etc. settings for cutting 100% Polyester Anti-pill Velour (polar fleece) approx 325 g.s.m. This is the only material we will be cutting on our machine. I have played with it a bit but I need your expertise to get it right.
Looking forward to your response.
Warm regards
Paula Merison
The KNK cuts perfect circles, thus something is amiss with how your machine is set up. Here are several possibilities:
(1) On the original KNK’s the carriage can off track during shipping and this will cause ovals instead of circles to be cut. You need to lift and insert the little white wheels into the track.
(2) On the Maxx and Groove-E the pinch wheels need to be centered under white rectangles.
(3) The calibration is off. If you draw a 7″ square on the screen, draw it with the pen and verify the size.
You can email me at smccauley45@cox.net for more assistance on this or contact your KNK dealer.
Hi Sandy, sorry for the stupid question but do you know why a KNK will cut ovals instead of circles?
In general, for coloring images and letters, I use gel pens. You can see a few of the designs I’ve done in the Photo Gallery section under Items Created Using KNK Accessories.
But just about anything will work in the new Groove-E and Maxx models because the blade holder seat is expandable up to ~7/8″. So, you can insert the thinnest of pens up to thick markers, such as a Sharpie. One of my friends used a big brown Sharpie for a recipe layout title and it looked like she had stamped the letters with brown ink… very cool!
Hi, what pens work well in the kNK?
Hi Sabrina,
KNK Studio is a Windows-based program only. And we do not expect to see a Mac version any time soon. Our program is based on a $1300 program by CADLink and they only provide their software in Windows format. Our Mac owners either run a Windows emulator such as VM Fusion and install a version of Windows, such as XP in order to run our software. Or they purchase an inexpensive laptop… even a used laptop, so that they can run KNK Studio and other Windows-based programs.
If you do decide to purchase a KNK, please let me know and I’ll let you know the current support package I’m providing with the 24″ Maxx. Or just feel free to email me any time with questions about the KNK’s. : )
